I was a fireman in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, also known as the “Steel City” early on in my career. As a firefighter, I learned to drive trucks. After retiring as a firefighter, I joined the trucking industry and have been driving for Jet Express, Inc. since I moved to Dayton, Ohio in 2001.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I love that you get to meet a lot of different people, such as customers, while driving a truck. Drivers also get to see different parts of a city or state, which is really fun.
WHAT DOES SAFETY MEAN TO YOU?
While on the road, I like to be extremely safe. Patience is critical to the job. At Jet Express, I help train the new drivers. I always highlight the importance of patience and kindness while on the road and on the job. My tips for drivers include always scanning the road, paying attention, and remaining alert.
